how long do i have b4 it goes bad? its been doing this for a few months now. Im about to put my jdm 22 in with m2b4 tranny so i dont need 2 replace now just when i go to use the f22 again

edit: i dont knwo much about the throw out bearing but what effect does it going bad have on the tranny? could it be a reason why its getting tuff to put it in gears when the cars cold?

edit: "The classic symptom of a worn throw-out bearing is a whirring or growling sound when applying the clutch pedal, which goes away when releasing the pedal."
i found that on the net. in my case its opposite i have a noise when the pedal is not pressed in and when i press it in it goes away.

everytime its gone bad..its noise right as ur pushing it in..then noise when the clutch is out until your car is so loud you cant hear it....

if your swapping ur engine soon dont worry about it until then...when you do your swap and do all your sela replacement, etc... get a good throwout bearing...the aftermarket ones have plastic in em and suck...i always use the oem part for that

why would i need to get a new throw out bearing if im replacing the whole transmission?

adhere to the old saying, replace while you can, instead of reusing a critical part you arent familiar with the condition of.

maybe because the throwout bearing is not part of the transmission?

could the throw out bearing going bad be the cause of why its getting hard to shift when the car is cold?

the throw out bearing is inside the tranny case how could it not be part of the transmission?

"If the noise goes away when you lightly rest your foot on the clutch then the problem is a bad release arm bushing" i found this on the net also? could this be it?

because it is not in the tranny case...how can you have M2B4 as your sn and be so uneducated on transmissions??

its not really a bushing on the release arm anyway...stop looking on v8 sites....that noise is comming from a spinning piece (the throwout bearing) when you swap ur engine...clean and grease up that release arm pivot (it looks like a ball and socket joint (like a human shoulder and arm))

ya, my tob that came with my exedy is going bad too...and i prbly had it in for about 10,000 miles or less. Does any aftermarket company make one that is metal or is it just OEM that does?

Ive got a bad chatter on my 3rd gen when I push the clutch in... Im sure its not the throw out bearing though...

I kinda like the noise.. It sounds like 2 aluminum disks chattering against one another....

It must be because of the VTEC...

Was my post helpful?

Sorry to bring this thread back but i am having a similar problem. I bought my with a fairly new clutch. I am sure is aftermarket because it doesnt seem like a stock clutch.the car doesnt go in gear when its on and hardly goes if i push it in with pressure. When the car is off there is no problem at all going into gears. Once i get it into gear there is that " clutch Chatter" but once i give it gas its fine.

what from i've read, this problem is the "input shaft bearing." i'm not sure if this is the technical name for it but i know that it's not the throwout bearing and is a bitch to get to because it's somewhere in the tranny.

i have the same problem. i've been riding with it for about 30,000 miles. the car still works but i have a very inconsistent clutch engagement. it engages at different spots whenever it wants to - i think it may be a loose spring or slave cylinder. on my car, it's wicked hard to get it into first.

damn the tranny problems
