Ask who you got it from? Or you can take it to the police and do it that way........................

I rebuild salvage title hondas so I do alot of buying and selling parts. I've called in almost everywhere trying to see if theres a place that I can check vins or block codes before I buy a motor, basically they say buy it from a reliable source and if you do decide to buy it off the street make sure you get a notarized bill of sale and then take it in to a police station and have them run it

open hood, look down at where the block and tranny meet together, it will say b18, b16, blah blah blah, then directly under those number is the serial number for the engine.

The vin is usually on the front of the block right above the oil pan nex to the right hand side of the header. You cant miss it. sometimes its on the back of the block in the same area
