during the fall i was out for a ride to gas up. and on my way home i down shifted to 2nd gear and got up to about 80 and backed off. so im crusing along and there was a cop on my *** with his lights on. so i pulled over and he said her heard me then went that direction and he clocked me going 61 in a 35. so he gave me a speeding ticket, but i asked him im if he could write if for something else for insurance reasons. (im 22) he said he couldnt but what since i actualy stopped instead of taking off like most bikes, when i go to court request to talk to him and if i dont do anything else he will help me out. so i go to court at 4 and im waiting to for him to come get me (cause were i live they take you to another room talk to you and tell you what they can reduce it too) so im sitting around till 5:15 and the judge calls me up and says your officer didnt show up so its dropped, your free to go. so off i went. it was my lucky day!!! just thought id sare it.
nice! I had one of these, only... the ticket was speed in excess of 101 mph, the top dog speeding ticket. I went ot fight it and the officer did not show up
Oh happy days!

well im sure you learned ur lession. when it calls for a certain speed limit, you have to obey. Even though ur on a bike and it doesnt feel right going that slow... you have to
but congrats man
but congrats man
That was his way of saying thanks for being polite and pulling over. I also bet you were couteous and friendly. Cops like this. They will often do something to help you out in the end.
to the cop for being cool.

Did you think that MAYBE that was the officer's way of helping you out? As a cop, you have a choice whether or not to show up for traffic court....regardless, you lucked out....this time, lol!
lucky
i had a similiar experience. i got pulled over for doing 63 in a 35 in a minivan. cop pulled me over, i went to court. Before going inside the court room, the cop asked if he could speak to me in private. i said sure, he said he looked at my record and it was clean, no tickets or accidents so he told he would drop it to a 5mph over which doesn't show up anywhere, insurance won't know, no points, just a 100 fine which i paid.

mine was sort of similar (in lucking out anyways). i had a ticket for expedition of speed (from 91 in a 40 in a wheelie), no license, no registration, and no insurance. the DA called me an idiot and said if i wanted to kill myself to go do it where people cant see, and then said since i actually had corrected the license, reg, and insur probs, she reduced the other to a a minor speeding ticket (from a misdemeanor). i got away with $300 and 1 pt

Yep. They get paid for their time. The only question is - whether that cop's free time is worth the stipend they receive.
Congrats on getting the ticket thrown out.

i was super nice and curtious to him, i really think he had his mind made up on what he was going to do before he gave me the ticket. thank got he didnt show my my insurance is already a killer.
WEll most cops hate going to traffic court cause its so boring, and u got to sit their and wait. My sisters friend is a cop and told me most of his cops buddies never show up unless it's a big thing like, street racing or an accident. He said he on the other hand always shows up, if the civilian was an ******* in the begining
dang i had the hardest time reading that post.
but i wasnt so lucky lastyear. the cop didnt show up but the bastard wrote a pretty damn discriptive afidavidt (sp?). It got reduced but still showed up on my record

i think that it just goes to show that as long as you are courteous and show respect to the officer and treat him like a man not an ******* who is ruining your day then they will usually be very tolerant of you, and treat you like a human as well.
cops never show up to court if its a simple traffic violation if you ever get a speeding ticket (granted its not involving you going over 100 or so) they won't waste their time in court because they dont get paid to do so the only time they show up is when there is an injury. been to court 3 times all 3 tickets have been dropped

Ehhhh, does crossing the double yellow count as a "simple traffic violation"? I know this can be marked as a misdemeanor if the cop wants to be a dick, but in this particular scenario it's not. What if the cop got a picture of you doing it ?
