Default gauge cluster swap=no cluster light? searched...

Just swapped a UKDM gauge cluster into my 93 CX hatch, and now there is no back light. It was fine before the swap. I checked the dimmer switch and the fuse, and both are fine. When I did the swap, there was one extra plug that there was no place to plug in on the new cluster. Everything else on the cluster works fine. So whats that extra plug for, and why do I have no instrument light?

I figured that might be the case, but I couldnt figure out why I hadnt heard about this problem on HT before. The UK one has the 2 big ones on the side, and the one yellow one in the middle toward the bottom.

Is your car an automatic? If it is that plug is for the gear indicator lights and there is a red wire on that plug that goes to the dash dimmer. Try to jump a wire from the red wire to the red/blk (power wire from the fuse box) and see if that solves your problem.

car is not an automatic, and neither is the cluster i got. I think that extra plug is for the shift light that comes on the CX model. Can someone verify this? And then tell me why my lights dont work!

got it fixed. took cluster back out and plugged it back in, and it magically works now. Now I just have to figure out how to fix the dark spot on the left side of the tach!!!

I know this may be a noob answer but it could happen: have you check the cluster bulbs?
