Default ats and boost?

i know this question is better suited for the forced induction crowd, but i havent gotten any replies in there. i know alot of you guys here are running ats products and have first hand experience with it, so im hoping you guys can share your opinions. i have a itr tranny with ats 3rd - 1.652, 4th-1.308, 5th-1.033, ats carbon clutch/fw (7.6kg), and ats metal lsd. would this be too much for a boosted engine?

thanks.

how much power are you looking to put out?

I think if you have a close ratio gearset it's great....but it would be most beneficial to have a taller final drive (lower numerically)

Who was it that was running some top speed setup with a 3.8 final here? The 190mph Integra or something?

How do you like the carbon/carbon clutch (/threadjack!)

oh FWIW, I have driven somewhat extensively on an ATS gearset myself with a 4.400 final. I think it's perfect for track use and even daily use provided you don't do much highway driving.

I did 8hours on the highway with 185/65/14s..... 800miles one way....and then back..... Worked great in the Rocky Mountains....

Low boost would be fun. Good response due to gearing.

Traction would be your biggest enemy. I have 222whp/150tq and first gear is useless with the ATS 4.9 FD, and if I make a little more torque, second will follow shortly... I'm not sure how the gearing is compared to the 3,4,5 gearset, but I'd imagine if I was running over 200ft-lbs at the wheels, 3rd would be a problem as well.

Why spend the money on the ATS gearset and then counter-act the improved gearing by using the LS final drive? It would roughly be the same as running a stock ITR 3,4,5 except 1 and 2 would be longer.

it would be nice to have something inbetween itr and ls tranny
itr gearing with longer finaldrive would be perfect for a boosted car

i'm not fond of the gsr gearing because of 2-3 4-5 spacing.

rpm drop at upshift would be significantly less in each of the 3/4/5 gears...

I'd do it in a heartbeat, but then again I'm only making ~300whp with 4.9 final in a usdm itr tranny. *shrug*

I used to have a JDM FD making about 190 wheel and 128 ft lbs.... Now I have a USDM FD ( bran new tranny, blew my other one... horror story) and I am making 192 wheel with 140 ft lbs.... I honeslty like the longer gearing better for my amount of power because even with the longer FD first gear is still pretty much useless.

However, I will say that the JDMFD makes your car feel much more torquey and the acceleration is amazing.

Also, depends I guess if your more concerned with dragging or auto-x cause I did some research a whle back on FD's and found out that longer FD's once you get around 200 wheel are actually much better for 1/4 miles.

leave it alone. you'll be trapping in 5th either way, so the bigger the final drive, the better in your case.

I found my ATS to be too short at 280hp.

yes, but for something with 400hp, he's going to have some lag - the final drive helps pull the car along in the lower rpms when there is little to no boost, not to mention in vacuum street driving.

You could go either way, but *shrug* I would love to see a higher hp itr keep the 4.9 just to quell all the naysayers.

even with stock gearing once you start getting in the 400hp range, the rpms come up real quick. Id say stick with what you got.
on 24's on 350whp i was crossing the traps above 9k already in 4th . if I would ran it with more power before I sold it it would needed 5th gear
