im stupid I know, but whats the difference; 06 Si K20 and 06 RSX typeS K20
I need a new car, but I don't know much about the new K20's I'm an old school B18C guy. I'v had my GSR for 6 years topped out at 12.96@105mph all motor but the car is just too beat down. time to move on so now I want either an 06 si or 06 RSX type S
Well, if you are only looking at MY 2006 cars then the Si has the K20z3 which is rated at 197hp (SAE rev 8/04) and the 06 RSX-S has the K20z1 rated (again tested with SAE rev 8/04 standerd) at 201hp. To make a longer explanation shorter the 05 and 06 RSX-S have the same exact engine (K20z1) but the 05 was rated at 210hp as it used a different rating sytem than the 06 MY (the new rating system is the SAE rev 8/04 noted above).
Ok, now just to cover a few other main differences that I can think of off the top of my head.
-Si has LSD and the RSX-S does not.
-Si and RSX-S have the same tranny (FD ~4.7) except for the 6th gear in the Si is a bit taller. Gears 1-5 are the same.
-Si has a bit different suspension setup than the Si (much improved over the Type-S but still McPhearson strut up front). I dont know that much about it but George K. has written some good explanations about it. (Maybe he will be so kind as to chime in
)
Alright I am running out of stuff (there is much more I just cannot think of it now). I will add stuff if I can find it or remember. This should at least give you a bit to search on and look around for.

lsd is a must for me either stock or not, but can any one tell me the bore and stroke and if the toda package would work because its not a K20A. I do know that both have a Compression Ratio of 11.0:1 and thier both 2.0 litter engine, but what makes more power in the RSX and why it is or is not faster?
si (k20z3) has a better intake manifold (RBC=euro accord type R is same as '06 si =RRB) that would allow for larger gains when coupled with mods
si also has counter balance shafts (RSX-S does NOT)which allow the engine to spin at a higher rpm without screwing up the harmonics of the engine.... TSX (k24a2) has the same counter-balance shafts BTW - these counter balance shafts would have a parasitic effect on the engine which could explain the 4hp loss
outside si looks better IMO but inside don't kow if I could deal with 2 tier cluster
lol...neither will compare to my ek (install april 1st)....aiming for 240whp dynojet on ITR cams w/lotsa tricks up my sleeve
