92 civic wiring questions HELP ASAP!
I have a 92 civic lx auto trans. I purchased an alarm with remote start, i have everything hooked up except the remote start and I need to know a couple wire colors and locations. I need to know the color and location of the oil pressure sensor wire. Also, there is supposed to be a neutral safety wire, is this only used on maual transmissions so that the car wont start unless you are in neutral? or do i still have to hook this up on an auto. please let me know, thanks.
oh, and please dont refer to me wiring diagram sites unless you know for sure it has the oil pressure sensor wire on there, because everyone i have checked does not mention it. thanks.

What alarm are you using that you need a oil pressure to install a remote start? never heard of this. Most tech sheets won't post this information. Reason because its not needed.
It should be optional to hook it up to oil pressure or tach signal, and you can program it for either. The tach wire is a blue wire on the back of the cluster and also at the diagnostic plug by the brake master cylinder.
Neutral safety is on automatics only so you shouldn't have to connect it.
We might be able to help you more if you post the brand and model number of the alarm.
But honestly, the easiest place to find a wire color is to buy or just stand and flip through the Haynes repair manual at a local parts store. The wiring diagrams are all in the back. That's how I find out what color the fuel pump wire is since I'm always using it on security installations.

yeah the alarm is off ebay. here is what it says in the instructions:
nevermind on the oil sensor one, it says to connect to the tach wire.
The neutral safety one says this:
Pin 6: Black/White wire: (-) Neutral safety switch input. Connect this wire to the park/neutral switch in the vehicle. this wire will test with ground with the gear selector either in park or neutral. this will prevent the vehicle from accidentally being started while in a drive gear. this input must be rest at grounf in order for the remote start system to operate. connected properly, the vehicle will only start while in park or neutral. you make also connect this wire to the parking brake switch.
I just need to know where this switch is i guess. (my car is automatic...)
thanks for the help

On DEI units, the black/white wire is generally wired to one side of a simple SPST switch, and the other side to ground. That way, you can switch the remote start off and on if you need to (useful when having the vehicle serviced).
Just hook it up that way and forget about interfacing with the tranny. Most cars these days won't start in gear anyways.

</TD></TR></TABLE>Oh Oh, calm down , I was just giving B18C_EJ8 a hard time, I was not giving you a hard time and I know B18C_EJ8 wasn't either, definitely not because you are a girl, both him and I spend a lot of time here trying to help, and most of time it's to "dumb as a brick" guys that still would not understand, and we did read your responses, we though we were being clear about wiring it to a switch, obviously not clear enough, as you had to ask where to find it in your car, I explained that it was something you had to add, not find in your car, that must have cleared it up for you, as you said "sounds easy enough" and I assumed you are a girl/woman when you mentioned maybe your boyfriend would help, that's why I gave B18C_EJ8 the jab, and the question about where the BF was, was what I would have asked next.
So before you assume that we are some kind of jackass and are giving you a hard time because you are a girl, read some of the treads that we have answered and you may just understand why we say the things we do, and take my word for it, it was not to offend you because you are a girl.
BTW girls working on their own cars are hot.
