Default brakes

Alright so i got the integra brakes all round today for 180 the whole swap hubs, knuckles blah blah. Ne wayz im trying to upgrade the boost and cylinder. Is there any difference between a crx's with discs all round the a ex sedans with discs all round. I just dont know much about brakes and dont want to buy into the wrong thing.

Yes, the EX has a 15/16ths master cylinder and larger booster compared to the Si, which has the 13/16ths master cylinder and smaller booster. Swapping for the EX stuff will make the pedal firmer, with less travel.

the bolt patern on the 15/16 master will not fit onto the civic brake booster
you can also use the MC and BB from a 90 to 93 integra they are the same
as a 90 91 civic ex

Here they are next to each other, the rusty corroded one is the CRX stock booster (1990 Si) and the other is the 15/16" from a 1988 Prelude 2.0Si, on my car now:
MC compare 1
MC compare 2
And here's the booster, same bolt pattern on both.

mhm. it is what provides the correct brake bias, so you want the one that matches your setup. 4040 from a non-abs 90-93 teg rs (right? i havent looked for one in a while).

i think tyson might have one for sale still

EX does not have rear discs. Those ebrake cables will do you NO GOOD. The Integra will have everything you need.

The 88-91 EX sedan did not come with discs all around.

wait a second... that picture shows some serious difference in the plunger length and shoulder flange where it mounts the booster. are you telling me theres no effect to this? having a longer plunger also means the pedal will automatically have to depress further down. hmmmmm... but maybe thats intentional since the overall stroke will be less because of the great plunger area....

anyone else care to comment?

nope. it works and i don't care.

seriously though- i'm not seeing the shoulder difference. as to the plunger length, all i could do is speculate.

im kinda surprised you dont notice the difference in shoulders in the pic. theyre pretty well lined up, unless visually its deceiving. but i guess if it fits, its not a problem.

but yeah, the plunger length seems it would have some definate effect, positive or negative. i was just pointing that out.

Tyson, you're right, they are lined up correctly, I did it when I took the pic. I'm not sure about the difference in length, but I can tell you my stock MC was leaking fluid, if that means anything. I don't really know, it may have not been out all the way. I know the new one works, and works well, and I know a lot of people have swapped these in without issues.
