Default 90 crx install dilemma

I called on two shops to help me install my kyb agx , they told me the car uses struts for the front and it requires a special tool to remove and install it . is that true? i thought struts and shocks can be installed with just spring compressor and normal hand tools?

I did mine with out the spring compressor. I think the only tools I used to change everything was a socket wrench and a hex key. The torch, dremmel, drill, and reciprocating saw were used to get a stupid broken bolt out.

yea i was goiing to do the job myself but i called jus tto check how much labor does it cost to let others do it. and its like $280 for all four , thats ridiculous man.

so i wont need to use any special tools to compress the strut for the front suspension?

i'm going to install some lowering springs with agx , guess i need to scavenge the shock mounts and bump stops from the stock suspension right?

I used all of the old parts. I would probably get some new bump stops though because the stocks ones were not really designed for a low car (I think). Newer part will definately not hurt.

you've been around long enough to know how to answer all of your questions. it will take you less time to do it yourself than to bring it somewhere and get it done.

and any shop that tells you they have some difficulty with a shock istall shouldn't be allowed anywhere near anything you own.
