Default S1 and Y1 transmissions

Ok, can anyone explain in detail or point me to some links that explain what the S1 and Y1 transmissions are? I need specs and differences between the two and what year Civics they were manufactured in. Thanks for any help anyone gives!

the s1 is an awsome race tranny but they suck on the highway I get 4700rpm in 5th gear at 80mph I dont think the y1 ratios are as tight, but they are both way better than an LS trans for all motor and they are boath cable clutch

the S1 wasn't in a Civic - it was in Integra XSi

Im rocking the s1 tranny and no complains besides going like 4200 rpm in 5th at 70 mph. You can always do an LS 5th gear swap into the tranny if you wanna ride in lower rpms.

That is correct.

Hmmm good question. I havent driven my bro's LS for about 2 weeks but I would say roughly around 3000-3500. I think thats at 70 or 80. Not so sure since I would cruise at 80 mph on the LS (dont gotta worry about vtec)

ls tranny is at 3200 rpms at 70MPH, my gsr tranny "cable" is at 3800 at 70mph, my brothers J1 cable tranny was at 4400 at 70mph, and my friends y1 tranny was at 4200 @70. ive seen every cable tranny in action and i rememberd it for a good reason, i see so many people mixing the dam codes up its not funny, and thinking that their ls tranny is a gsr or jdm b16 and thinkn it blows when they take it out and stomp on it.
