Hella vs. Piaa
I'm researching which bulbs are better. I was looking at replaceing all my bulbs, 9006 dims, 9005 brights, and I want to see if I can retrofit a H1 bulb into my fog light houseings. I was looking at both manufactures websides, the Hella ones are rated at the actual wattage 9005: 100w, 9006: 80w, and H1: 70w. The PIAA ones however, were rated at lower wattages which they claimed to be equal in brightness to the higher wattage ones but just ran at a lower wattage, 9005: 60w = 120w, 9006: 51w = 115w, and H1: 55w = 110w. So which are actually brighter? Are the PIAA's actually brighter then the Hella's, even though the actual wattage is lower? Any other brands of bulbs that are high quality and bright like these are suppose to be?
I vote for HELLA_JDM... Now what do I win?
Edit... Ok now the reason why the PIAA bulbs are the way they are is so you dont burn up your headlamp harness... They are rated at 60 watts but put out a higher amoutn of light than that... If you went with the Hellas theres the possibility that later on down the road you could have to replace the harness... Im not saying it will not happen with the PIAA's but I believe the possibility to be less likely...

Alright, thanks for the help. If I can find some PIAA's for a little cheaper then what they have listed on their site ($80) then I'll probably get them.
What is every ones opinions on the H1 retrofit? Is it possible? The fogs are on a 92 Accord bumper btw.

A little off the brands, but I got some Luminics and I really like those. The light quality seems to be much brighter than the PIAA's (HID look) that I just replaced.

Yeah, I can get those for a discount from a friend. You say they're brighter? Do they iluminate a wide area?

the same area as any other bulb would, just a different temperature/color for the light output. I have the superwhites and they light the road up well.
Why waste youre money on those expensive headlight bulbs. Just go to Wal-Mart and by the Sylvania Extravisions. They arent the "cool" blue color, but theyre just about the brightest bulb you can buy and theyre only about 20 bucks. But I guess if you wanna waste money on them and you have the money to waste, then go with the stock wattage PIAA's so that you dont risk the channce of screwing up your harnesses and there is less likely of a chance for you to blow a bulb.......
Raybrig lights are also way too expensive. Ive seen them on EBay for the same price as PIAA and Hella..... I say if you really are going to spend the money on lights and its gonna be that expensive..... why not save up for HID's. Cant get any brighter than them!!!!! Why would you pay 80 dollars for halogen technology that you can get the same brightness for 20 bucks????
