jdm b18b swap into a 91 rs
hello, this is my first post. from browsing it seems that this site will save some expletives during my current project. i am in the process of putting a jdm b18b into my 91 rs (it was a ba8a) has anyone had the pleasure of this yet i did a search of the site and didnt come up with any thing. i was told by the sales guy that it would be a straight forward swap with no mods. but as i'm looking at the old engine and new, i'm seeing some differences. first one is the vacum lines are really different. as well as the intake conections. i was hoping for a manual maybe that covers this. i have the haynes. but they are so vague.
i am confident that i can do this. pretty decent with mechanic type stuff. just concerned with wasting time with the whole trial and error thing. thanks guys for any help you can give.

well theres prob no manual to help you..i am about to do this same swap but into a 93 ls instead. i know that your 91 is obd0 and im pretty sure that jdm b18b is a obd1 motor so you would have to use obd1 dizzy, injectors, ecu and im not sure what else..hope this helps you a lil
if you want to make it real easy just take off the intake manifold off your old motor and injectors and your dizzy and swap it onto the newer motor it will be a whole lot easier for you.
waisting time a little. why go back to stock? just curious. why not go with gsr or something v-tec. well to answer your ?. its a pretty straight foward swap. change the i/m and you'll be ok as far as the vacuum lines go. there is one different sensor on the b18b block though. the coolant sensor is on the thermostat housing instead of on the back of the block. but i think other than extending the wire there,
there is not much to it.
there is not much to it.
I have a JDM B18b swapped that I picked up about 6 months ago. The swap is VERY straight forward. Just use your distributer, injectors, extend the ECT switch from the back of the block to the thermostat housing.
The intake manifold on the JDM B18b doesn't have the "bent tubes" for the vacuum lines like the US does. I just eliminated the 2cylinders on the firewall. The only thing thats different as far as vacuum is that. Just run your FPR, and Map sensor. HTH
