Default 97 Prelude non SH Sport Tronic problem help!!!

i got a 97 Prelude non SH and i was driving last week and all of a sudden i hit a pot hole and my catalytic converter picks up a big *** plastic bag that melted on my cat. well when this happened my car shot an engine check light and now my tranny stall's like hell i have to apply ALOT of gas before she gets any kind of movement like i would have to wait till 5k rpm to see acceleration. I went home Turned the car off and did the engine check light trick with the negative battery line. Once the engine check light trick worked the car drove around normal as if nothing happened then a day later the check light shoots up again and now it stills once again when i try to accelerate i did the trick and so forth rinse and repeat. Does anyone have any clue as what my be the problem with my Prelude

i have i/h/e/p

There may have been some damage to the oxygen sensors. Check to be sure the wiring and connectors are OK, especially the primary (front) sensor. If the sensor is damaged, it would cause a CEL, and the car may be misfueling.

you need to find out what the CEL means! stop resetting the ecu and find out what that CEL is for. if you don't know how:

1. drive the car around till the CEL comes back on
2. park it, turn off the motor, and turn the ignition back on to the 2nd stop
3. on the passenger side of the center conole, kind of near the feet area, you will see a removable cover. wiggle it around and tug on it for a while and it should come right off.
4. you will see a blue or green wire harness with 2 wires coming from it. undo the harness.
5. take a paper clip and make it into a "U" shape.
6. take the 2 ends of the paper clip and shove them into the wire harness. don't worry nothing will short or blow ant fuses.
7. look at the CEL, it should be blinking. now there is a pettern to the blinks you will have to pay attention to. the long blinks are the 10's digit, and the fast blinks are the 1's digit. so 2 slow blinks and 4 fast blinks will be code 24.

then if you go to the 92-00 civic/del sol forum, at the very top you will see a "[FAQ] ECU threads" topic, go in there and look for your code # and let us know what you find. there is a complete list of all obd1 and obd2 codes in there for you.
