Default 4th gen H4 bulb JDM headlight wiring questions (searched)

I want to have the H4 bulb in my JDM headlights be capable of both regular and bright lights, and use the H1 bulb as a driving lamp. To my knowledge this is how they came in japan. The H4 bulb has both filaments in it. I want to somehow wire the H1 bulb off my corner lamps so its always on with the headlights. I have very limited wiring knowledge, so any help is greatly appreciated.

you would have to cut the 9005 connector off, and splice it into the 9006 wires, so you would have a total of 4 wires going to 2 terminals on the h4 bulb. then solder 2 wires from you corner bulb to the h1 which would give you what you want. now, i haven't done it so thats not to say it will work perfectly, but thats what you have to work with.

What about wiring to a relay that turns off the low beam filimament in the H4 bulb while the high beam filament is on. I've heard that running these at the same time is very dangerous.

also if you wire the corner you would have the middle light blinking when you turn. hmmm. yeah, im not sure what relay to go with on that. but if you could source a jdm wiring harness for it it would be on there if thats how it comes factory. otherwise, i couldnt tell you bc i was unaware they had any difference in the wiring other than bulbs.

I would wire the H1 bulbs into a relay where u can tap the corner lights or find a red wire with a black stripe to turn on the H1 bulbs. when you turn on ur lights a one click the H1 will turn on. Then for the h4 bulbs i believe you would have to run the red wire with green stripe to the high beams.

You can make your h4 a high/low and h1's into daytime running lights (DRL/fog conversion). I think hp92lude did this conversion w/ an Insight DRL module so you should shoot him a message if you're interested.

what if you just hooked up the wires from your usdm main lights to the h1, so it comes on with te lights, then hook up the wires from the usdm high beams to the h4's?

as for the comment "this is how they came in japan" i bought my jdm lights brand new and they had wirirng for a regular typical install not how your describing, but if you want them to be on with your parking lights why not wire them into your 2nd turn lights (the 1 that dosent blink) then it will not blink and come on with parking lights. as for the hi/low issue what about possibly getting a harness from a car that uses this route havgin 1 bulb for both brights and lows (just an idea)

yeah what he said lol. its all a matter of getting the DRL unit (very cheap on ebay) and a spst relay and some wiring. i could do a short "writeup" withouth pics if enough people were interested, it really wasnt that bad.

here's a glance of what mine looked like right after i finished them

I hooked up my H4's to both the low & high beam wires & use the ground from the low beam. I connected the H1's to a foglight kit that I bought. You can run both filaments on the H4's at the same time... I've had this setup for more than 3 yrs now with no problems at all.... I can also turn on/off the H1's when ever I want. So can I have both filaments on the H4's on, AS WELL as the H1's... (alot of light when needed). I've been running some Raybrig bulbs on both the H4's & H1's for almost 2yrs now with no problems.... yes the same set haha. I recommend using Raybrigs... love'm.

yeah i have mine set up so the yellow "DRL/FOG" h1 comes on 15 seconds after the car turns on. it stays on when i turn on the running lights, and when i turn on the headlights. then i turn on the high's (2nd filament on h4) the h1's turn off. i also have a switch on them so i can turn them off completely. im working on getting all the info together for anyone who is interested, just PM me if you are..
