Default Shifting an Auto tranny

Sup guys, when I drive and my speed gets up to 50 mph I shift from D3 to D4 and when it gets back down to 35-40mph I shift back down... This is kosher right??

It's fine. Switching between D3, and D4 won't cause any problems.

My friends uses D3 up to ~50 MPH.

You will cause no damage, and it is often a technique often used to use the engine to aide in slowing down (compression braking) or powering up hills. It's all dependent upon speed (of course). You don't want to select manual 2nd from D4 while at highway speeds.
And of course there's the "don't select Reverse" warning which goes without saying

P_Adams everyone, always helpful and witty too! Yea Ive always driven automatics like that, but Ive been experimenting using only D4 and it accelerates/shifts smoother more power it seems. I only shift hard into reverse when I want to drive backward on the freeway, I just turn hard at high speed w e-brake then when Im facing the wrong way, slam it into reverse and drive backwards to show off.But other than that I think Im good,

downshifting at high speeds may cause excessive driveline shock if done too often

It won't hurt anything (trans or engine), but your gas mileage and wallet may suffer the consequences.
