Default Starter problems/Auto to manual conversion related.

I just got a Civic with a auto to manual conversion and i went to try to start it and the starter didn't do anything, so i put in another good known working one that i had and sitll nothing. I checked the grounds and all good there. Now the guy that i got the car from bought it how it was when i got it, as in not running. So I can hear the relay in the engine bay click when i try to turn it over. I didn't see a clutch neutral safety switch on the clutch pedal so i'm thinking that i need to jump something. Any ideas on what to do with the clutch neutral switch when you do auto to manual convrsion ? Would the relay under the hood in teh fuse box click if the neutral safety switch wasn't hooked up and you tried to start it. ? Thanks.

you have to solder 2 wires together from a harness you unclipped from the switch slider on the automatic console, they are the only 2 heavyest gauge wire in the center of the harness you can't miss it, its the neutral saftey switch. the two pin switchs on the clutch pedal are useless, ignore them

Take off your center pieces until you fine a harness. Then look for these 3 wires

too damn much for what it's worth. i didn't know **** bout cars until i did an engine swap AND auto/manual converted it. it was pretty simple. just have someone to guide you or live on HT for a bit.

and yes, 2 wires (the thick black wires).

Whats this third wire that Luser is talking about ? I found a thread that says that you have to do something with a wire green/wht to be able to get the key out. Any truth to this. I don't have a problem getting my key out now, so i'm thinking that i'm good on this.

don't really need that wire, but i wired it with the other 2 anyway. that's to signal always in park. you will be able to remove the key without it. last time i check..

I'm hoping that this is my problem. I don't know any other reason why the starter wouldn't be cranking.

i doubt it would be the neutral saftey switch, because your getting a clicking sound in the engine bay when you turn the key. check all grounds again, battery and starter. it wouldnt hurt to make sure those wires are correct also

I was thinking since the relay in the fuse box was clicking that my problem is elsewhere. Well I was trying to start it off of a booster pack, than i hooked up a battery charger that i have and put it on "start" mode. The tranny ground is good, along wit valve cover ground and same with the one to the thermostat housing, am i missing any ? When you turn the key and try to start it should i get 12 volts at the spade connector that goes to the starter ? The threaded post off of the starter always has 12 volts from the battery and when you try to start it the spade connector that goes to the solenoid should get 12 volts also ?

does the car have an alarm?.. because if it does it could be a relay 2 the alarm that it will cause it not 2 start with the key.

I haven't found anything to suggest that there is an alarm on the car.

neutral saftey switch in the harness :-\

Did you check it? You'll have to connect the wires together, I'm not sure which ones they are though. Hope that helps :-\
