Default open DP???

My DA integra should be turbo'ed here in a few months and I planned on running open dp for a while since I dont have to worry about emissions anymore. Who all runs open dp now and for how long. I know the gases will eat up the nose but I like the quick spool up and the sound of the turbo whinding down at the light

Well I do it, but its rare. I didn't like having to take 2 tylenol just to drive home from school (1 hour away). You mess like **** after you drive. It loud as expletive, people who say it's not are either deaf or retarded.

Just get a 3"+ exhaust back.. open DP is soooooo loud and annoying.. not to mention you smell like exhaust for the rest of the day, and feel like crap too from all the fumes.

I used to run open downpipe, and after a few weeks I got used to it, but now that I have my 3 inch on I dont know how I lived with it. I can never go back.

size of your hot side plays a big roll in the noise level...small enough turbo doent even sound loud
as for the fumes, dont know how to solve that 1

just get a e cutout and u can have open downpipe on demand, i must say open downpipe is faster spool and it hits hard on my car, i got a 3 inch e cutout or 2.5 inch exhaust. My exhaust isn't bad but open Dp is a fucken beast, i couldn't drive it all the time, It's all on the drive there is a sweet spot when u run open downpipe that u can cruise at and it's not really that bad, but if your doing 6k + shifts to hear your car, ya it's loud as hell. God it sounds so nice tho

yeah... I've been running open DP since i first had it installed on my car.. which was...like october??

I love it, it sounds great.. the fumes are annoying, but i dont even notice it anymore (is that a bad thing?)

I just cant justify the $$$ put into the exhaust..... when i could use that for something much better like... some rods for my new build..

anywho just my $.02

thats what i was gonna say. i open my cutout on occasion, but keep it closed when in town and in cop prone areas. i actually run stock exhaust with the cutout, so when its closed the car is quiet as stock. i hate cops.

vtec hits real hard at 13 psi with the cutout open. i love it

it doesnt bother me to sacerfice a few ponies for my car to be quiet. i put a the exhaust turbo back with a dynomax muffler and it is su[er quiet. my turbo only takes a tad longer to spool but oh well. now all i hear is my turbo spoolin up. it sounds soo good

Aye, the whole cold air stuff really does suck! I wouldnt recommend driving around with the windows up

I always have my windows at least cracked and the sunroof always tilted up!

Ok so the fumes are really the worst part. Ive been driving open DP for so long that I really dont notice them hardly anymore. NOTING beats hearing the turbo wistle and spool while normally accelerating. I couldnt imagine anything else other then an open DP. I am running a cut out setup myself as well. 3in from turbo to cat with Y pipe then stock exh. the rest of the way back... Best of both worlds IMO.

a valve in your exhaust that opens up and lets gasses out whereever you put it, bypassing the exhaust from the cutout back. its like running open downpipe. i have an electronic cutout, so i push a button and 2 seconds later is open/closed. there are also manual ones and vacuum activated ones like atp's.

Wouldn't the e-cutout kind of take power away though if you just run the 3" exhaust? Simply because the flow wouldn't be that great with it closed? I've always wondered this....

With a t3/t04b my car wasn't bad at all with open downpipe, with a sc61 it is pretty loud.
