EGR removal .. no one has done it successfully?
Ive been doing a lot of research on removal of the EGR system and cant find one person that has cleared the ECU code without an AEM stand alone. Can an ECU chip clear the code? What about resisters at the plugs?
The EGR valve isn't hard to get out. Just use a small socket wrench and get it out. Just start of by getting it loose, then take it out with your fingers
the EGR valve is not hard to get around; as long as all the vacuum lines are attached the EGR valve will not cause any problems.
the problem is the IM pressure sensor. when the EGR valve opens, there is a slight drop in pressure, which the ECU expects to see when the valve activated. you would somehow have to trick the sensor to see the pressure drop when there isn't any.
i'm not too good with electronics, but anything is possible, right? it would take someone with quite a bit of electrical engineering knowhow and a lot of R&D. anyone fit the description, and want to solve a popular problem?

The EGR is just not that big of a deal why expletive with it. If you gotta do something then take it off and deal with the code. It's not like the light on the dash is going to hurt you.
I just remembered I have been getting the EGR code since I did my motor swap anyway haha .. it only comes on when I stay in 2-3000 rpms for 10 seconds. If i disconnect the plugs will the CEL stay on permenantly or only when it should be activating like it does now?

If you are obd1 (older than 95) this is what you do to disable egr without getting the code
remove EGR valve with 1/4" wratchet with a 5-7" extension.. (its a 12MM) remove gasket and take to machine shop or buy online an aluminum egr block off plate (CP motorsports for like 10-20$)... Spray egr valve with carb cleaner and try to clean up...Put plate on, the egr valve.... Hook up all electric stuff and vacuum lines and uru good to go

well that means that ur egr is not hooked up correctly (not good vacuum ) or the acutally sensor is just broken...
you get them randomly cuz egr does not activate until ur 40+ mph (or so)... and when the car is at optimum temp
from what ive been told.. i think u can only just disable egr with stand alone tuning

if your obd 1 then just leave the plate blocking it off, and hook up the electrical connector and vacume hoses and the codes will go away.

i ahve the egr system completely removed in my car with a block off plate. it throws a code 12 but that code does not put the car in limp mode or affect the motor in any way. so it doesnt matter if it throws hte code, its no big deal.

correct, except you have to stay on top of checking codes, cause you wont know when you have another. plus i just dont like looking at that light

as bb4 said hondata ect will take care of it, but may i ask why you dont want to hook it up. do you just want it compleatly out of the engine bay, or have a mani w/out the port for it? with the blockoff plate and it hooked up, its still like its not there.

Or you could do like the guys did that owned my car before, and simply remove the CEL light bulb.....
PS - what's your # again, bish?

does the EGR bother you that bad? it cools down engine temps and reduces pollution, and it really doesn't kill performace. you will see bigger power gains if you get a straight pipe...
i say keep the EGR, its not that big a deal.

It's not really worth much unless you can completely get it out of your engine bay to clean things up. Otherwise, the "benefits" aren't really worth it all.

Agreed, but when your EGR valve is stuck open.. Driving becomes unsafe and NOT possible.. I had VIOLENT! jerking and bogging.... to the point where i coudn't even drive on the road!!
