So I'm exiting the track on my last lap of the second session of the day at Infineon and the damn car dies.

91 CRX Si, stock D16A6 motor (newer head, stock cam)

Turns out I toasted ANOTHER distributor. I cooked one 4 months ago the night I bought the car and drove it from Los Angeles to SF.

There is only ONE variable that is in the mix...my alarm has a connection to the dizzy...could this be cookin these damn things?

I haven't any idea what it could be outside of the alarm wiring doing something or another....and what they may be I still don't know.

any ideas/suggesions appreciated.

 

Either that, or the cam is messed up. Although I doubt that any harmonics could be easily transmitted, since the dizzy end has a floating key.

Try to see if you can move the wires to some other location, the stock ignitor isn't know for it's ruggeness.

 

Maybe replace an MSD ignitor in there. They're more powerful.

Yea, i thought that too about the cam, but I just put a *newer* head on there that only has ~40k miles on it and was in good shape/to spec.
