Keyless Entry 97EX [ Don't have stock head unit ]
Here's the deal. I just bought the car. The guy gave me the keyless entry remotes, but he did not have the stock head unit, so it doesn't work. I was wondering if there is a way that I can use a different stock honda head unit that has the keyless entry feature and somehow program the remotes that I have to work with it.
Any ideas/suggestions?
::: I searched and like 50000 posts came up, and I skimmed through about 200 of them, and then just started looking through titles.. couldn't find anything.

Just get an aftermarket alarm.
other than that I have no clue. I have a stock honda rasio you can have for free if you find a way to do it.

You can do it with an aftermarket unit, but it requires splicing of some wires. Other than that you can get an aftermarket alarm or hook up your stock stereo in conjunction with your aftermarket one and get a special harness for them.

Take whatver u have to a local or known audio shop and they can most likely do it. I take all my wiring stuff to my audio shop just cuz they do it fast, know how to wire, they know what they are doing & im lazy and hate wiring **** So far they have wired up jdm powerfolding mirrors and power windows, kill switches, clusters and more stuff then just stereos.

you can also have a stereo shop re install the head unit and tuck it up behind the dash, all they do is re install the part that makes the keyless part work

Hm.. everything that I've read so far says that you need the stock radio. Can you use ANY stock radio that has the same functionality.. aka another stock radio from a different 96-98EX? Thanks for the help guys.

As long as the receiving unit for the keyless isnt IN the stock HU itself (I dont know whether it is or not), you should be able to use any stock radio that has the keyless/power options integrated into it. I would think so anyways. ?

Bump for someone that knows for sure. And for someone that knows which wires to connect to for the stock radio to not need to be there.
