Default p08 vs p28

will there be any noticeable difference in the 2... has anybody ever switched from a p28 to a p08...

i have a d15b and im looking for an ecu right now and wondering if the extra $$ that the p08 is will be worth it

Chip the p28 or get a p08, it's worth it!

the p08 is basically controling the same engine as the p28, but its the p08 that makes the engine have more torque i believe...i used to have a chipped p08, it was a good decision

WTF? The p28 has the dual maps for vtec, and the parts to activate it. The p08 is basicly a p28 with different STOCK maps and not vtec components. If the ecu is left stock, you should use one or the other (vtec or nonvtec); one will be the absolute incorrect ecu.

The p08 can be converted to a p28 (with chips and the right parts). Depending if you get the parts from donor ecu's and solder them in yourself, the p08 with vtec will be much cheaper.

Hate to do this, but...

WTF? The p08 is the d15b vtec ecu, it already has vtec and the maps are very close to those of the p28.

Woops, guess I'm an idiot. I was thinkin p06 - must be the brew I've had

If that's the case, I'd stick with p08. P28 is made for a d16, that's a d15 with a bigger cam.

any sohc ecu can be chipped to run any external eprom, making them all the same in the end.

The po8 has a 1 wire o2, while the p28 has a 4 wire (in stock form, can be changed)

I heard that P28 runs really rich and gives crappy gas mileage. I would stay P08.

I run a PR4 on my D15B since its not converted OBD1 but still get close to 30 mpg.

I noticed that my MPG increased, and the overall feel of the motor was better when I chipped my P28 & used a stock P08 ROM....The P28 will run the motor fine though.

To add to that, the P08 doesn't read VTP (Pressure)

I can get all kinds of sohc obd1 ecu's. Once you chip it, the sky is the limit.... Make a sohc vtec ecu into a gsr p72, p13 h22a, p28, p08... once there is a external eprom added it makes no difference, thats what im saying

This is a bit of a shameless plug but I am pretty knowlable about these ecus and i have one for sale right now for dirt cheap!!!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

The information that many have provided is correct as verified by my constant electronics struggles:
---- p08 ---
A) 1 wire o2 sensor Stock
B) More aggressive timing/fuel maps for a smaller displacement motor
C) Gas milage will be much better w/p08 than if you run a p28 on a d15b
D) p08's can be chipped but it is not the same as chipping a p28 (different hardware)
E) P28s can be chipped and run p08 maps and timing....

ok. i run a p28 on my d15b vtec, and it does run a lil on the rich side. would i be better off to chip the p28 to p08? and what wire would i have to hook the single wired o2 sensor to. i have the obd1 conversion on mine from jkobd.com wich is now rewyre correct.
sorry for the thread hogging

the p08 looks for the signal wire only.. its the grey wire on the pigtail of the Rywire harness

Bro I have a PH15a motor it's from the Philippines, so the thing is, I'm planning to put a P08 or P28 which is better? it's a non-vtec motor but still planning on converting a vtec head soon... would it be good if I put an ECU first before the vtec head?
