h22a SWAP and auto tranny?
might be picking up a 96 lx coupe this upcoming weekend. my question is if i decide to swap to an h22 is it posible to keep the auto, just thinking. id just want a faster d. d. ?? i know i should search but im at work with a my buster *** boss walking in every few minutes. thanks in advance. mike
It is but alot of ppl will tell you that it negates the whole experience of having the H22. I wanna do it to my gf's accord since she doesn't wanna drive stick in NYC. I say go for it if you want, but you'd have to keep the figures around 200hp before your auto tranny will need beefing up.
Do the manual conversion while you are at it.
I guess the tiptronic is an option, but why spend the money for it.
Make the swap worthwhile...you won't regret it

I dunno if the h22 will put the power to ground with the f22 tranny its a little stronger. I'm going to be swapping out my f22 for an h22 w/auto tranny check out hmotorsonline and jazzproparts.com diiferent selections.
I got my swap from jazzproparts on ebay. The h22 will get the same amount of power down as the f22. You can always go lsd to actually get all that power to the ground. But pair a h22 and a f22 is asking the tranny for mission impossible=early death. If you stick with auto, only go h22 auto. Mine isn't bad but since it has limitations on upgrade hp/tq, I will be doing the 5 speed swap.
I was gonna swap an H22 auto a while back. Then I raced my friends 97 lude (AT) and beat him in my 92 accord (AT). After that decided not.
When ever I've even talk to guys at shops about it, they say H22 w/ 5 speed conversion. I can't convert my car cause my wife refuses to learn MT.
My next engine mod will be a H23 AT swap. Staying AT. More tourque with H23. More HP still...going to 160 w/ H23 opposed to near 200 w/ H22). I'll also be using the H23 AT tranny. I don't want the extremely long gears with the F22 tranny.

so it is possible to get a H22/23 with an auto tranny. what would cost more, keeping the auto tranny or doing the auto to manual swap? my car is currently auto and debating which route i should go once i pay off my car.

You still asking for trouble if you use anything other that an auto for the h22. The h23 will be better than the f22 auto but the h23 will have to deal with more hp that the h23 engine. Yeah the h23 typically has more tq but it not much higher than the h22 really. The jdm is rated at 200hp/161tq. You might as well go h22 and get 40 more horses. 8 lbs of tq from the h23 block is made up in the hp area with the h22.
