Default residue above header

I have had a DC-S header on for a while and think that I may have a exhaust leak. Its been installed for a year now and there seems to be some carbon buildup on some of the top of the headers where it is bolted to the block. Is this a real problem or can I ignore it for a little bit until I get enough money to replace it? This is an exhaust leak right.

if your car has done alright for a year, a couple more weeks shouldn't hurt. if you don't want to replce the header though, you could just buy a new gasket from honda and that should stop the problem.

Could it be the gasket I have on at the moment it is copper and looks like this, but is not this exact one. Is this better than oem since the header I have already is aftermarket.

depends on what header you get. cheap companies like DC have cheap gaskets, so eom might be a better option for you.

use oem exhaust mani gaskets with any header/manifold...what has the carbon? your flange or where the primary pipes meet the flange??? do you run a flex pipe? If your leak is at the primary and flange junction then the lack of a flex pipe would cause cracking...

Yes there is a flex pipe and the carbon residue is seeping from the block where the headers bolt up to the block.

I have carbon residue above the header flange but I don't think it's b/c of an exhaust leak. how do you know for sure you have one? do you have any pics so I can be sure I understand your problem?

Warm up your car then tighten all the header nuts. Odds are you didn't do it the first time, so they're loose

you can tell if you have a leak by running the car and listening really hard and using your hand to feel for air.

Thanks I'll check it out, but I think it has to do with the product shape at the port holes itself.
