Default starting an engine outside from the car ?

Hi, sorry if this is a stupit question I am new to all this......

Is there any way to start an engine outside from the car ?

there are selling me an engine for 100 bucks, a d16y7 with tranny and everything,, (a friend that works on a junkjard)........ He told me that he doesnt know if the engine works because, the engine was on the junkjard before he started working...

what comes in my mind is to plug the ecu and put a 12v battery in the starter, and start the car ? LOL

Well lets think about it..A bucket full of gas with a inline electronic pump,,and a battery should start it up..You dont need an ecu to start the motor up..If you dont believe me then go outside to your car right now unplug the ecu and see if it starts..It will,,its not gonna run right but you're only doing this just to start it..

Edit : forgot about spark..I guess youll have to rig something up

Wow, you have a lot to learn. How are you going to get the fuel injectors to open, spark to work ect, you need a ecu which means you would need a dash harness!

you can easily do a comp test with the engine out by hooking a battery to the starter

That's funny. One time my car wouldn't start. Know what the problem was?

A blown ECU fuse.

Its seems like svoboy is the only one besides me that knows anything..One more time,,you can start a car up without the ecu.. ..The way I found out was I was at the mall and some ******** broke my window and stole my ecu..When the tow truck guy came he asked if it starts..I said no..He said try it..I tryed it and it started..Done..Now you cant drive it like that but the motor will start up..Or maybe I have some magical motor..

put the engine on an engine dyno thats hooked up to a fuel system and ECU.
there you go. You can start it without it being in a car.
