Default any body armor suggestions?

since i moved to las vegas, i will be riding alot more.

ill probaly be commuting to work a few days ar week on my bike.
during the winter / early springs i can wear my joe rocket jacket.

but a 10lb leather jacket isnt gonna cut it during the summer

i have seen this armor that icon makes :

i like the idea, but i dont know how much protection it will actually provide.

when i stunt i wear a motorphoria armor suit:
like this:

but this is even to hot for vegas.

does anyone have any suggestions on what i can wear during hot weather months?
i just need something for back and forth to work.
something that will keep me cool and protected. i cant show up to work with no protection, but i cant show up like a sweaty ***** either .

i know joe rocket makes a mesh jacket
like this:

but i am looking for some other suggestions. (because i figure you have to wear the tight so they will be effective ... but i could be wrong)

something more along the body armor lines.

price isnt a big concern.

thanks in advance

Mesh is fine for low-speeds. And anything is better than just skin. With Las Vegas weather, you'll be sweating like a ***** almost anywhere you ride.

Can you bring a change of clothes, instead?

i actually used to race DH Mountain bikes, and here in SC i tend to wear my 661 Pressure Suit... its relativly inexpensive ~100 bucks... and gives you full coverage...

also had spine protector

Armor won't do **** when the abrasion rips its off of your body.

Go with a high end textile jacket that has armor inserts.

Textile or Perforated leathers. I have an A* SMX air flow. I used it for SoCal summer weather which is probably cooler than Vegas Summer weather. Id rather sweat a bit than lose my skin.

There's a lot of good perforated jackets, leather and textile. I use a Dainese HC-88 textile when it's really hot out and then if it's just ok, I wear a perforated Bora. You can get something a bit less expensive ofcourse. I used to rock a Joe Rocket mesh much like that yellow one but I noticed that it's very loose around the waist and it'd slide up on the torso if I was to ever slide feet 1st. That's no good. Make sure the design of the jacket will keep it in place if you slide. The HC-88 is quite good. Textile and mesh.

Project, What do you wear over top of this?

I could not wear my A-star leather over that so do you just spot a long sleeve t or a textile jacket?

I was under impression that leather Jackets are supposed to be tight and snug to fit probably/effective.

I know for a fact that those could not be worn under my jacket although I have protective inserts so if I took them out I may be able to make it work.

it may look the same, but it isn't, it is built for Mountain biking... it is very very breathable, and isn't hot even on the hottest days... form fitting, yes, hot, no

And what do I wear over it? usually nothing, just a cannondale longsleve moisture wicking shirt underneath, and if it's a little chilly, but not cool enough for the jacket, a hoodie.

Mesh will melt faster if you go down in LV heat

as someone said, dainese makes some great perforated jackets. I have one (zag pelle). Wore it in 85 degree weather and its not that bad (only wearing a tshirt underneath). It only sucks if you're sitting in traffic....once you're moving its great. For better cooling, wear some underarmor under the perforated jacket.

I've worn my perforated dainese leather suit w/ underarmor in 95-105 degree weather (at Thunderhill Raceway) and its fairly comfy once you get moving
