hard to shift gears....plz help
hello.... i have 88 accord, 5 speed and i recently started having problems shifting gears... the gears seem ok at first but when i start driving any amount of distance it is really hard to shift gears...and sometimes it gets stuck in a gear.... any ideas?
Where in the entire travel of the clutch pedal does the clutch release? Really close to the bottom?
If this effects all gear ranges, You could either have a fluid / Pressure loss in the clutch release mechanism (won't release completely), a bad clutch pressure plate (not releasing completely) or a contaminated clutch disc from an engine oil leak in the bell housing.
If it effects only one gear range, you could have a bad syncro/gear assembly.

You nust forgive me, it's late and I must make a correction.
The 3rd generation Accords use a Cable operated Clutch release mechanism. There is nothing to check for leaks.
But you should make sure it's properly adjusted.
basically, you're looking that the clutch release fork moves with very little delay when the padal is depressed

Have you checked the trans fluid level and make sure someone didn't put gear oil into it. The clutch cable adjustment on the front of the trans should have about 1/4" free play
i have a 89 lxi and mine is doing same . i toook apart tranny and found that needle bearing went bad and seized to collar on main shaft out by 5 gear. when put in gear and let clutch out car would act like brakes were on and not move . im rebuilding mine , cant find one in junk yard reasonable to buy
