Window tint
I am wanting to tint my windows myself and was wondering if any1 has any recommendations on who to use and what type of tint to use. I'd like to use tint that is precut. I've found some places out there that have this but wanted some input on which is the best. Any1 tint thier own windows? If so give a guy some help. Thanks.

We'd tint your car for $140.00 for all the sides and the back and give you a 3 year warranty. Lifetime warranty is $180.00 w/better film. Both films are great quality tho. We use it to tint for the local Lexus dealer.

i tinted the windows in my 89 civic SI. for the door windows, i removed the windows and tinted them out of the car. for the rear side windows, they came out ok, with a couple of creases. i did not even attempt the rear hatch. i know you are asking about a prelude but the civic, in my opinion should have been an easier car to tint, and it was PITA. i think the money i spent to have my prelude tinted was well worth it.
if you still want to try this yourself almost any automotive store carries tint.

Autobarn, Pepboys have what you are looking for. They have both regular tint film rolls, as well as precut sheets (rolled of course). If you are still considering doing this yourself you are going (like the others have said) be very patient and allow yourself alot of time to work on this project.
Suggested tools:
1) Brand new Single edge razor (or box cutter)
2) Bucket of soapy water
3) Clean "Squigy" (usually comes in the ilm kits from these stores)
4) Window cleaner solution or spray
5) Depending on what you are planning to tint you will need possily two rolls of tint film (one roll i you are just tinting side windows, two if you plan on including the rear window)
6) Clean rags and paper towels
7) Spray bottle with water
8) Blow Dryer
Steps to installation
1) Using window cleaner and clean rags make sure that all the windows that you are going to be tinting are clean on both sides (explained later)
2) One window at a time soap up the exterior side of the window.
3) Non adhesive side of the roll is unrolled on to your very wet and soapy window.
Carefully place the film so that it is centered on the exterior side of the window filling the entire window. Once again make sure that you are placing the unadhesive side of the film against the window.
4) Carefully using the razor trim the film around the glass of the window. Take your time here!
5) After you have trimmed your film to the full shape of your window, no is the time to wet the interior side of you window.
6) Reverse the film so that you can place the adhesive side of the film against the inside of the window. Now I am sure that I will get tint installers relying to me on this part, personaly I feel that tint last longer and is more presentable when placed on the inside of windows. But there are those that feel that the tint is "just as nice" when placed on the exterior of the glass.
7) With the windows nice and wet and soapy place your film against the interior side of the window, once again take your time. Gently move and shift the film until it is fully centered and you are pleased with the appearance.
8) Now with the film against the window spray water on the side of the film that is now facing you
9) Use your squigy and rub all the water/ air bubbles out of the film. Make sure to be real "**** " about this step, because if you leave any bubbles in this step you will have that bubble forever in the window
10) Repeat all from step (2) until all windows are tinted
11) Using your blow dryer dry all windows untill there is no water left on either side of your windows
12) Finally enjoy your rides new appearance

I had 5% tint put on all my windows for only $80....I'm going to take off the tint off my front 2 windows one of these days and just put a little lighter, cause I'm getting tired of having to roll down my windows to see if anyones walking whenever I turn to get out of my neighborhood
20% all the way around on my Prelude and I love it. Got it professionally done for $120 and lifetime warranty. Please have someone professionally do it so your car won't look like every other cheap *** on the road with bubbles and discolored tint.
definitely got my answer. pro's the best way to go..kinda what i figured. I have no problem shelling out the money for an excellent job. I tinted my old Cutlass Supreme and it wasn't anything i wanted to do again. Any1 know of any quality installers in the St. Louis area? There are plenty around, hope some1 can lead me to a reputable one. Thanks for the help people!
