Default code 7 help on a crx

ok guys i did a little research on this code...its a throttle positioning sensor error, but ive gotten two differnt things out of it. one: someone on one of the threads i looked at said it was the O2 sensor, then the other which i take to be more correct said the TPS was left unplugged. since i think this one is more correct than the other, then i guess i want to know where is the TPS located?

buy the way its a 91 CRX DX D15B7...i dont think that this should be any reason that a code would be differnt...IE stock CRX dx came with a D15B2. i looked at the crx mantinace book and thats what the book said...TPS, but since i dont have the stock motor would that effect the codes?
thanks in advance.

7 is the TPS, which is on the backside of the throttle body

i have another question

would the TPS cause you CEL to come on?
i was driving around the other day and it came one, but not right away, it was more like 15 or so min into the drive. if i turn the car off and restart it, the CEL goes off. clues anyone?

yes TPS will give you a CEL - it is normal for some things to not show up right away when you start the car, particularly things that the ECU needs to read as you go along, like the TPS, VSS, etc. - every time you shut the ignition off the CEL will go away, however, the ECU is still storing the code - if you were to look at the ECU, the code will always be there (even if CEL is not on) until you clear it - it could be an intermittent problem and if you reset the ECU, it may go away - code 7 is code 7 on all OBD0 ECUs

your TPS is most likely misadjusted. The way to adjust it is to rotate it until a certain voltage comes out of it. I have no idea what the voltage is though.

I had the same problem with my crx. Just fixed it actually. Their is 3 wires coming from the sensor: yellow, red, and another one i dont remember. shave/strip a little piece of insulation off the red wire to be able to see the actual wire. Make sure the sensor is all plugged in. turn key to on position (car doesnt have to be on) and get your volt meter (DC). Put the postive lead (Red) on the red wire (that you stripped) and negative lead (black) on negative battery post. At closed throttle, it should be .5v, wide open throttle 4.5v. if it needs adjustment, you need to drill out the rivits that hold the tps down and adjust it left or right, then just replace the rivits with screws. Good luck, i ended up getting a diff tps from the local junk yard.

DPFI needs a DPFI TB I think, but if it's got the b7 intake stuff you can use almost any d series besides super small stuff like hf and vx. I think, I dunno for sure.

I used the tps off a d16a1 (86-89 Integra) dohc motor. Works perfect, plenty of them at the junkyard too

Don't go shaving the insulation off the wires, open up your ecu from the underside and check the connections that correspond to the tps. On my car they are C7 and C12 iirc. Then you can loosen the tps off and move it so that at fully closed you get 0.45V - 0.5 V. That should give you about 5V when the throttle is fully open.

If you find that it's not adjustable and you have to replace it, you'll need to set it up properly anyway. It's not a big job but two people make it a lot easier.
