ECU Upgrade - Which One To Get??
Looking to do an ECU upgrade - What are my options?
1990 CRX Si (1.6 litre) stock / Cold Air Intake / Exhaust (flow through "cat") : These are the only bolt on's that I've done so far - I 'm getting a header in the Summer.
I've seen chips that I could purchase to "upgrade" the ECU so that it takes advantage of the bolt on's. Or do I simply send out my ECU to have it "tweaked"?
I never intend to do an engine swap - Because I'm sick of doing that kind of work. I was forced to do that right out of High School just to keep the POS cars I owned on the road. Plus, if I'm gonna dump THAT kind of $$ on an engine etc. - I may as well buy a NEW car which is more convienient (starting a family soon).
Please - Any help? GMan_CRX@hotmail.com

there's a guy on this board... i'm not sure what his name is... but he chipps ecu's for pretty cheap.
check out his web page... it's http://www.hyperducktuning.com the prices aren't what you would expect for a chip in an ecu... and for like half the cost of getting a new ecu you can chip it yourself.

i checked the site, and it looks good, i have a 90si crx, ........., i totally understand that you need to have a disclaimer, but how come on there it says "only for race purposes"?, because i am no racer, i just drive around dallas, and i just would like more "punch"
i also was just wondering if it affects passing inspection? or the way it uses gas (mpg)? also, all i have is a stromung exhaust, but the rest is stock, would it mess up anything on my electrical or engine system, (is there a risk?)
i am interested in it, i was just needing some extra info on it, thanks

most applications are race, meaning that some sensors have been disabled (this goes mostly for DOHC VTEC ecus) either to make it work on P28 or becuase it might hinder the performance on the track, Pm6 programs are fairly aggressive but very streetable
to fail emissions, it doesn't take much even with stock ecu does it...
