Default PM6 ECU (I think) in a 90 Integra LS, probably not good, eh?

First of all, yes I'm new here, not to beat around the bush too long but I'm from Turboford.net, so I respect the 4 cyl. engine a lot (especially with a turbo) . I'm very much out of my element here, but I've already found lots of good info on my own, just wanted to confirm with you guys. I'm helping out a friend who got stuck with a half-assed(I hope it's okay to say that here) car and I'm trying to help him get the thing in decent running shape.

The factory B18A1(I assume this is original, according to my info) has been put back in place by the previous owner. The previous owner apparently did this just to push the car off on someone. Just to give you an idea the ECT sensor was broken off and the plug was dangling with part of the sensor broken off in it( ) so I replaced that, made it cold start great then. It also had no provision anywhere for screwing in an 02 sensor in the exhaust, but the plug was there for that also, so I hole-sawed the exhaust pipe (best I could do was putting it before the merge in the Y-pipe, not great I know but it should work okay) and welded in the bung there and hooked a new 02 sensor up there. So first of all, did I do okay with putting the sensor in like that? That's just an aside though.

As you can tell by all that, the car was pretty hacked together, I mean the headlights are some cheap projector/multibeam combination something or other, and the wiring is just hanging out with bare connections , it's just sickening. But sorry to ramble.

The main thing is he gave me the code from the ECU tonight on my request (since he's having another problem that's making it not run right now, but i'll get to that) and from what I have read here this is the important number:

37820-PM6-A040

which I assume to mean it's a PM6 processor in the car! That's a SOHC Civic/CRX processor right???!!!! There's no way that can be good, but nonetheless the car does run quite well with it plugged in there. At the moment his car starts but then shuts off and it seems that it may be a big vacuum leak from old, splitting vacuum lines, I'm going to check it out tomorrow, but I'm sure it might benefit from having the right ECU in there. I believe that the PR4 processor is the right one for the B18A1?

I can't begin to tell you how much he and I will appreciate your help on this, and I'm sorry this is so long, but since I'm new I figured I should show that I can make a good, articulated post that is easy to understand. I see that you have a limit of 5 posts on newbies which seems to be a good idea, we have nothing like that on my favorite forums. But if it seems like I'm going to approach that limit, my AIM screenname is jll2k1us if anyone has any specific advice to give.

Thanks again,
John Lewis

Okay, so no one has any thoughts on this?

EDIT: Should I post this in the hybrid forum? Wasn't sure because it's not a motor swap, just the wrong ECU I think.

The PM6 is a 88-91 Crx/Civic Si ecu. Im pretty sure with that ecu the motor is not doing its full potential. The reason why its working with the b18 because their both obd0. The Pr4 would be your best choice to go with since its the correct ecu for it. Make sure you get a 90-91 PR4 obd0. 92-93 PR4 is obd1.

Thank you for confirming that. I'll edit my post above cause it does sound kinda bad now that I went back and read it. I appreciate the help and you're right, I'm glad no one just fed me some crap. I've heard there are tons of people on here, and not necessarily that many tech knowledgable people. But I know there are some. I'll update when we get more fixed if I have more questions. And I assume that the 02 is fine the way I did it?

Thanks again, and sorry about the annoyed post, just felt like I was being ignored, but then there aren't that many tech questions in this tech-related forum, so I'll be patient.
