Default s2000 rear windows - plastic vs. glass

Hi H-T members. I'm interested in the S2000 and am looking at both the '00 and '01 's as well as the 0'2 + . How much of a difference is there between the 00 and 01 rear window (plastic) vs. the glass window of the 02 + as far as visibility, maintenance, and appearance go? Is the plastic window highly distorted, or is it bearable?

I know there are other little differences between 00-01 and the 02's but I'm only concerned with the rear window as of now. Thank you in advance.

The glass window is smaller. So it results in a larger rear blind spot. But it has a defroster and does not require any special cleaning or maintenance.

The plastic window is considerably larger. So the view is better if it's clean. But the plastic can get dirty and hazy with age, which is fixable with periodic (maybe once a year) plastic polish.

My car is 6yrs and 4 mo years old now, and the plastic window is still crystal clear and holding up fine.

Thank you I appreciate the response. And I take it the plastic doesnt have any kind of defrosting system?

Any other opinons on the two styles?

The only way to defeat the blind spot is with the OEM hardtop. It is really doesn't matter if you have the glass or the plastic, the blind spot is terrible.

Meguiars Plastix or Plexus on the plastic window. Keeps it looking brand new.

interesting. how does the plastic window handle the winter seasons? does it fog up badly?
is the plastic a super theft magnet (easily cut into)?

then entire soft top is a theft magnet. thuggs will slice open then top and jack the seats quicker than you can say ......something intelligent should have come to my brain by now but it hasn't.

You can get your S2000 stolen even with a Hardtop?

Probably the same way that all other cars are stolen.

not true if you saw how my mirrors are set up. i use my side one to cover my blind spots and nothing else. i use the rear to cover everything behind me. i can see everything around me without issue. the only downside is parallel parking, you cannot see the ground/back wheels. i do not have trouble with this as i know my car well

Mine has not really fogged up at all.

The tough part would be if the car sits out over night and gets frost, or ice on it. I would not want to touch it at that point....or at least with it so cold. Cold plastic = brittle plastic.
