Default My Streetfighter project

Tell me what you think.

It's still a work in progress. I kinda like it so far.

Wind protection is non-extant, though. Today's trip up and down AFH confirmed that.

Kinda looks like this, huh?

From Terra Powersports. Just ask 'em.

A lot of people put on different "wristbands" around their cylinders. It's supposed to have a practical purpose (prevent the fluid from absorbing UV rays, prevent the fluid inside from leaking all over), but I think of it as advertising space.

That looks pretty sweet. How long have you been working on your project now? Just wondering, this project you're working on, is this a VTR1000F/SuperHawk, right?

Yep, the bike is a SuperHawk. It took two hours to change the front, but I've been playing with the idea for a few months now. I've actually had the front headlight for half a year, but just never put it on.

The front stand is a Baxley Sport Chock. I got mine from Pirates Lair for $220 shipped. I believe if you order from Baxley, they're $240 + shipping. They also come in colors, not just crinkle-black.

http://www.piratesk12site.net/Chock.htm

It's $230 now from this site.

I find it invaluable at the track, where I can just roll on to it (my GSXR doesn't have a kickstand). It also makes maintenance a breeze. And popping it onto the rear stand is easy, since the bike is already standing up-and-down.

Not necessarily. AFAIK, the only time when the reservoir will overflow is if you put in brand new pads and the pistons get pushed all the way back in. That's when you risk overflowing the reservoir.

I say get rid of the mirrors and chop off the ears on the fairing stay. I have a bar end mirror for sale if you want it. I think its a CRG one. Not exactly sure.

If it went empty, you would definitely notice at the levers before leaving the house, I'd hope. Under normal circumstances, it wouldn't completely drain out so quickly that you would not notice.

I have two bar end mirrors and played with that look before settling on using the fairing stay and "regular" mirrors. My two biggest problems with bar end mirrors are 1) adjusting to the location, which is usually blurry, and 2) tapping car mirrors when I lane share. Thanks for the suggestion. I definitely liked the look of it more with the bar ends, but riding that way gave me a headache, especially from irate cagers.

First imma fuzz it. Then we'll see about bars and cages.

Sure! Gimme a day or so. The rear isn't all that, though. It looks like any stock Superhawk.

Yep! All I need are some black stripes around the tail section. And a rear-facing harpoon.

Yep! Drop 'em an email and ask for Terra wristbands. I believe they also come in white and gray. Tell Stephen (or Christian) Herb sent ya.

I hear ya on the rads. That front end is hard to look at. If you've seen Kai Ju's SHawk project, I'm also considering something underneath the seat. I don't think I want to fill up that front space with a rad.
