where to find a slide hammer??
I going to clean my EGR system and need a slide hammer. where can i get one?? I have tried pep boys, 2 local tool shops, sears, home depot...will check advanced auto and auto zone. Anybody actually know for sure where to get it?

I've seen them at pep boys before, I'm surprised sears doesn't have them. Do you have napa near you?

advance auto parts, pepboys (still have a loaner program) where u leave a deposit & got 10 days or so to use/retyrn it.

for 10 days? Thats it. At AutoZone you get 90 days before it's non-returnable. Also, AutoZone has them. I rent one once a while ago. I don't remember how much the deposit it was but, for doing the EGR ports you only need it for a day. Just pay cash so you don't have to wait for it to go back on your credit card when you return it.

yep that was pepboy's policy in the year 2000...heh, dunno if they "upgraded" it to compete w/ autozone or advance auto parts' (which has better customer service <YMMV> in my area).
Hey guys I'm sorry im bringing this back from the dead. But I went today to rent a slide hammer and once I saw it it looked like the bolt was bigger then the plugs. Isn't there like a connector or something to get a smaller drill bit to fit on there.
BUMP... Sorry guys I am planning on cleaning out my ports tomorrow and I am havng a hard time understanding this whole slide hammer thing and how to get it to work it is bigger then the plugs. Someone please help, LoL!!!
