ok guys i was just curious i'm really going crazy for a camera and i really don't have alot of cash after spending money on both project cars. but i really want a good camera is it worth trying to buy a 35mm camera rebel you can get them for around 250-300 and get some lenses for it or buy just some standard digital camera? my reasoning behind the 35mm is that i can take it have all the pics loaded on discs instead of pics so i can still have them on my desktop or laptop what do you guys suggest seriously. i really want to spend a 1000 and get a digital slr but i think this will be a good starting point
I say digital since thats where I think photograpy is heading towards. Also if you do get a digital camera you can see the image before you even print it out. So if it is a shitty picture, you can delete it and have more space to take more shots. With film it is one time use only

yeah i agree i just don't want to buy a crappy digital settling cause i really want an slr camera i just figured i could get away spending spending 400 and getting a decent camera with some lenses but i think i'm just gonna save alittle more and try find a decent dslr setup for a lil over 500
Your not going to get a "lenses" for under $400. Hell you its hard to get a decent lense for 400. I would just get a nice point and shoot digital they take amazing pictures It's also a hell of a lot cheaper than buying film all the time.

actually yeah i can get a 35mm rebel with some lenses for around 400 but curious if i should i really don't want a point and shoot camera
why not go for a mini slr type at first or a more advance point and shoot with manual options? it's a great learning basis. someone like a canon s1is or s2is

Nikon D50 is in the $6-700 range, but honestly if you're serious at all or plan on being serious get the Rebel XT.
I've heard rumors Nikon is going to phase out film cameras completely over the next decade, so that should tell you the direction photography is going.

Digital mainly because you need them for online use. It's a lot faster. However, film is not fading out. No one uses it on Honda-Tech, but it's a must for all Photography majors. It's the only way to truely learn photography in my opinion.
you can get a nikon d50 w/ the 18-55 kit lens for under $600 shipped....
but save and get a dslr...the nice p/s are nice..but it will still always be a point and shoot camera..
