New Rebuilted B18C1 Motor Knocking!
I recently rebuilted my B18C1 from top to bottom, new main and rod bearings, new seals all around, valve job etc...
When i rev to about 2K I can hear knocking noises, I can also hear it when i start up the car also. Anything over 2.5K it disappears. I dont know where its coming from. I gapped the intake valves to .6in and .8in on exhuast. Any Ideas?

It could be ur injectors, they are very loud on these motors but since you rebuilt it and u didnt say it was happening before
idk??
Did you reuse the stock lost motion assemblys? If you didnt, then that is probably the culprit

You should get new lost motion assemblys then. Go on the classifieds section and there is a thread called all acura parts at employee pricing. The guys name is gabe and he can get you all 8 for about 240 instead of 300 somthing.
Look in the all motor section and there is a thread in there about LMA's. Omniman knows his stuff so pay close attention. I personally would use the gsr's lma's instead of the preludes, but idk. Omniman is the man.

One last thing i tested, my dad told me it can be my timing? i was like wtf? starts and runs good! But i noticed when I turned down my timing, the knocking almost disappeared but when i advanced the timing, gawd that f**king noise is loud!

Now that its gotten worse, drain the oil into a VERY CLEAN CONTAINER. Wipe out the container extremely well. And also change the filter. When you are ready to put the oil into a milkjug or 5 gallon container, use a paint funnel to catch and debris that was in the oil. If it is clean, then you havent done any damage. Also cut open the filter and cut out the media and inspect it for any shavings. Hope that you dont find any.

Rebuilted, lol.
Pull the valve cover off and make sure cams and crank are all at TDC. Can't tell you enough how many people overlook this very simple detail. Then check your ignition timing and set it to stock using a timing gun, not just moving your distributor and guessing where to set it at.
If your lucky, you just have a cam gear that skipped a tooth or your timing is way off wack. If your not so lucky, like stated above, you may have a rod bearing knocking and is about to take your crank out with it. Good luck to you.
