Default 1988-91 civic w/ d16a1 (86-89 teg) swap

Can anyone give me info on whats required for a d16a1 swap (87 integra motor) into an 88-91 civic? Are there motor mounts needed, etc? It would probably be swapped into an 88 or 89 dx because its an affordable car.

You should find a ZC or a D16Z6 (SOHC VTEC) instead. The D16A1 won't bolt into a 88-91 Civic. Both the ZC or the Z6 will bolt in, offer more power, will be much less of a headache, especially the ZC.

I just assumed the d16a1 would fit because it is the american version of the zc. i was hoping the mounts would be the same and everything. They're not?

No, you will need to use a JDM "black top" ZC, or get an older CRX/Civic

Yes, the 87 bTEG is only 113 HP, and the mounts dont fit. The ZC Bolts right in. AND take my word for it The DX transmission works but you'll want an SI transmission, or the ZC transmission. THat motor just does not come alive with the DX trans. I ran mine with a DX trans for a month. Put an SI trans in it and it seems like a totaly different car, the motor just comes alive with those gears.
