starting to see the light......
I have a good backround doing wiring, but not so much with audio installs. Anyway, my aftermarket deck in my 94 accord ex stopped working so I wanted to switch it out with a used one my friend gave me. I noticed the connectors going into the backs of both decks had the same color and gauge of wires in the same spots (both pioneer decks), just slightly differently shaped connectors. So I figured I could just cut the old deck's connector off the large white connector that feeds down into the dash, and butt-connect in the one from my friends deck. I blew the fuse and then did research and found out that even though the wires are the same colors, they have different uses with different decks. So my question is, does anyone know where I can find a wiring diagram for the pinouts on back of the pioneer deh-3400?? I have looked high and low on the internet and can't find it. Second, if i find it, can I just compare and match the wires using the honda wiring diagram for the large white connector?

Ummmm, what?
Unless your old deck is like 15 years old, the wire colors do the exact same thing regardless of deck, connector size, or anything....
You should have a minimum of 11 wires.
Yellow = Constant 12v
Red = Switched 12v
Black = Ground
White & White Black
Grey & Grey/Black
Green & Green/Black
Violet & Violet/Black
(above are speaker wires)
Blue (or Blue/White) = Remote turn on / Power antenna
You may also have an orange wire.
I don't understand why you blew a fuse if you matched up color to color from the deck to the harness adapter (which I'm assuming you're using)...

Ditto both the above, here is the owners manual.... http://www.pioneerelectronics....0.pdf
The wiring should be the same as this... http://www.pioneerelectronics....0.pdf

Thanks for the excellent replies. I disconnected the large white connector and brought the wiring connected to it in for a closer look. All the wires coming out of said white connector are in the right places according to the diagram you found for me (obviously, I noticed they are nicely labeled). I also have two cylinders, crossovers i think, wired between my front speakers' wires from the white connector and the cd player connector. Correct me if i'm wrong, but those are high pass crossovers to block bass from going to the more fragile front speakers right? I have no antenna on my car but the wire connection is still made between the white connector and cd conn. but the third wire, (antenna power?) has been snipped. When I was combining the new cd player's connector with the white one, I just swapped one wire at a time from the old cd player's connector because they were in the same spots and the same color.
I just went and tried to reconnect the cd player. The only thing different was that the antenna power wire that feeds separately down into the dash was disconnected. Nothing happened. New fuse was intact. I'm guessing the antenna power wire needs to be connected, but i have nothing to strip wires with right now. What do you think?

yeah i have an amp and sub. I probably should have checked, but maybe the wire i keep calling antenna power is the amp power instead, it looked like a "new" wire. Could that be? I would get off my *** and look, but its frigid out and my car has a bunch of snow on it right now.

Yea, that wire running off by itself is probably the amp control lead and the blue/white lead should be connected to it, along with the blue or blue/white on the adapt. harness, or if the oem radio plug has been cut off and you are hardwired, the oem control lead, [for power ant. and/or oem amp/s] is brown/white, [careful, there are 2 brown/white wires the other is the right rear speaker neg. (-)].
You mention a 3rd wire (antenna wire) has been snipped, let me ask you this, do you have both a blue and a blue/white wire coming from the HU?

PS, is the sub the only thing not working?
