whats wrong with my motor?
95 b18c1 ,using about a quart of oil every 3rd tank of gas and poor mileage at that about 20 mpg,no leaks vissible motor is completely dry and no smoke at all until about 7500rpm,and the motor seems to be down on power for the past couple weeks, and there are no mods to the motor at all .thanks
what the hell is a valve pan gasket...never heard of it?
But seriously, you may want to start by checking the compression in your cylinders.
Check your PCV valve to. $3 fix and its pretty easy. I replaced mine and it was totally clogged with only 30k on it. Since I replaced it I'm getting alot better gas mileage. I would say 20-30 miles more a tank.

heres a dumb question, where is the PCV valve located and what does it do?
The valve is located under your intake manifold. Its a pretty easy fix. I would recommend just buying a new one for $3 at any auto parts store. All you need is a set of needle nose pliers or something to squeeze the clamp so you can get the valve off the hose. Thats the hardest part. I had to use a small flat head screw driver to pry it off. Took me a total of 15 minutes to do this fix for my very fist time. Oh ya make sure your car is cool enough to touch cause your right by the intake which gets HOOOOT..
Oh ya to test your valve to see if its clogged just shake it. If its still good you will hear something inside of it rattle around. You will know what I mean when you buy the new one. Compare sounds. You can also pinch the hose and the valve should make a clicking sound if its good. The helms manual tells you to pinch the hose. Its easier just to take it out and shake it.

so this might explain my sudden case of *** gas milage? hmmm, good thing I ordered one last week, should be here tomorrow. I'll post if I can tell any difference in the next couple of days right now I've gotten less that 100miles to over a half gallon, granted its mostly city driving and I did do a couple of 1/4 passes, which might have eaten up some gas but still it's pretty **** poor from a milage champ like an integra... glad I read this thread.
just an update, I installed my new PCV valve and after looking at the old one, I 'm very glad I did. I did a short test drive with the new valve and I think most of the whistle I was noticing before is gone but I won't be able to tell if this affected that noise until a bit more driving. I'll let you know how the gas mileage changes too. it better go back up...
the install took maybe ten minutes most of which was looking for some vice grips to pull the valve out of the slot in the IM, that thing's really in there. and pushing it back took a bit more than I expected but it's really straight forward to replace.

Is that what the whistling sound is? I keep on hearing this weird whistling noise even when i stuck the stock intake back on.
let me know about this..thanks! Car has 49k on it.
