Default New Purchase

Hi, Im new to the site and well new to hondas. i bought a 1991 accord EX-R and was quite surprised at how quick it actually is. But also i have no clue where to begin with suping it up. So far i have a custom 2 inch straight pipe exaust with a borla muffler, AEM short ram intake, and a 2 inch exaust header. its not a bad car. all i know is parts are scarce for F22 Engines.....or at least thats what ive been told. any help would be great. Thanks to all who reply.

you should look into suspensions for it, it will make the car feel so much better when turning and stuff

sounds like you have a good start with the upgrading process. i personaly would have went with a 2.25" exhaust setup but what you have is not bad.

you can look into installing underdrive pulleys, such as AEM ones, or unorthodox racing ones.

and u can also get a regrind cam for your motor from delta cams.

do you have a 5spd or automatic?

Really? hm...but i have seen a lot of people boost the F22, which is supposed to be a great engine for boost , other then that theres the H22 route, and yea a good suspension is worth the money, check out cb7tuner.com they have great info there

If you have dont have very high miles, I would recomend boosting it. If you dont have much money you can piece a kit together rather cheap from a DSM setup. I think the manifold will bolt right up to your head.

High mileage or not... if a compression/leak down test show good, boost it

I'm amazed. This is his first post and even though he used the word "suping", he still knows that a 4 cyl has a header (not headers). fastboy22, this is not a crack at you but I can't tell you how many times I've read "headers" in posts around here.

yeah i was looking to lower the car and get a strut brace(i think thats what they are called) for the front. i didnt know that DSM manifolds bolt up to the head on the F22, I Actually have a 1991 Talon TSI sitting in my yard with all the turbo stuff in it(16G evo turbo, hks wastegate, and hks blowoff valve with all the piping for the greddy intercooler i had on it). Used to be a dsm guy so i put tons of money into it but the engine threw a rod racing and in response to the earlier question its a 5spd.

Dude you have a real good setup in that talon. The dsm Manifold doesn't just bolt right on.but it's easy to modify. You just have to drill out three bolt holes and it's good to go.A f22 can take about 8 to 10 psi stock but if you get some forged pistons and rods it will take about 15.The weakest link is the stock pistons the ringlands go at anything over 10 Ive heard. The stock block is about indestructable with iron sleeves.
Boost is the way to go for you.You have all the expensive stuff already.
Do some searchs on UBERDATA and CROME.for engine management.
