tranny problem, rebuild or get a new one?
well my tranny made noise for the last 5k miles. i was told it probably was the main input shaft bearing. only made noise when the clutch was disengaged, and all the gears worked fine, no grinding.
the other day i was crusing in 5th when clunk, jerk, grind, and then i kept going, i went to shift out of 5th and the shifter would not move. i can push the clutch in and it works fine but when i go to remove the tranny from gear the linkage wont move at all. also that day my car kept kicking out of 4th gear and would not stay in.
could it be the input shaft bearing and it finally **** the bed? is my tranny worth rebuilding or would it be cheaper to find another cable si? they are rare in my area.... yards want an average of 400-500 dollars for ones averaging 160k... ridiculous.
engine and tranny are now removed from car, 90 civic si, 90 si tranny.
HELP!!!!!!!

Find another cable Si. Not worth it to rebuild. You can find Si trannies for far, far cheaper than that but you may have to drive a ways for it or get it shipped ($$$). Up here good Si trannies go from 150 - 300 cdn.
