There is nothing wrong with racing a car at a track, period. No matter what the car.
However, you need to get out to your nearest track and run. Don't worry about making a fool of yourself (obviously don't do anything stupid or dangerous at the track) but enjoy yourself and practice, practice, practice. No one here knows what your car does, what track you take it to will be for traction. There are so many factors... including the most important... the driver. Everyone has different methods/styles they use. Find yours. And if it doesn't work... try another.
BTW.... it'll probably end up being around 4000 rpm.

depends on tires also if your running street tire don't get them wet or warm them up. no need to. just lower pressure to 30psi. launch about 2500 and keep it floored after that it's going to be hard not to peel out. if you lauch to high or get in the water box your not going to see amazing results. keep track ong what you did on each timeslip and main thing is to keep you 60's down to about 2.2-2.0 on street tires. Then once you get you launch down worry about quatermiles times and horse power.
tire and suspension play a big factor when lauching. i use to launch after i peeled out in the waterbox and i was told i shouldn't do that and my times drop about .3 on the 60's
