Sqeeling Type Noise from Car When Cold
hi everyone, i have a 90 crx with b16a1 swap. Once and a while when driving i hear a squeeling type noise, difficult to detect where its coming from. I placed the car in neutral noise and noise is only present when car is coasting. I suspect driveline components or wheel bearing. Anyone have any ideas> Note problem seems to be most apparent when driving after car is cold for about 15 minutes or so, and sometimes noise goes away. Really weird. Need ur help thanks.

I'd say wheel bearing is starting to go. I had the same problem when I bought my CRX. It was so bad I thought the noise was coming from my exhaust as the guy who I bought the CRX from had punched a million holes in the muffler! And yet again, the same noise is coming from my Dodge Grand Caravan's driver's side wheel bearing as well. Noisy for the first few miles and then quiet.
I vote alternator as well, my car does that **** all the time when its cold or when I shift hard. I hate it but Im too lazy to fix it.

bearings dont squeel. more like a howl, but not squeel.

I didn't say bearings anywhere in my sentence. My alternator belt squeels. That's what my ears hear anyway. It certainly doesn't sound like a wolf howling.
Besides there really isn't a technical term for that annoying *** sound.

um, i was agreeing with you chief.
i thought it was clear my comments were towards ppl saying it was a wheel bearing, which would not be the likely cause, especially based on the description of a "squeel".
