I totally forgot that I got some cams and cam gears from a friend a long, long time ago. I have no specs on them except that they came of out his '97 H22A and I have an '01 H22A.
Since I'm taking my car in to get my valves fixed, should I have them put these in? I remember that my friend had headwork done but my engine is completely stock.

5th geners correct me if I'm wrong, but if these cams are just stock and the only difference is the year, there would be no point. Unless they are performance cams, and/or there are adj cam gears on them.

Sorry. Yea they're performance cams that he got put in while getting headwork.
He originally purchased the complete package from a dude named Viet Lam at a shop called Pro Imports in Westminster, CA. Viet Lam used to work with a guy named Stephan Papdakis at a previous shop called Honda Pro. And Viet said he ordered the cams from a guy named Jeremy Lookofsky. If any of that matters.

No I don't. How can I find out? Will a machine shop be able to tell me? Or do I need to call Viet? I think I have his new cell phone number but I don't think he'd remember anything about them.
I'm planning on taking my car to Kevin Nguyen at Wicked here in Westminster. Maybe he can find out while he's working on the car.

wooHOO! I just talked to him. I guess the number I had was for his work. I got his cell now. He said he'll charge me $300 labor and I can get parts at wholesale. I trust him more than anyone else I know, especially w/H22's.
Lol, he was like, you only got the cams? Where's the head? Too bad the head was trashed around the cumbustion chamber. Glad he came back into town.

Sorry, I meant he's gonna remove the head, have new valves put in, and then reinstall everything including the cams ofcourse.

so with the 600+ in parts plus the labor, your out about a grand. yeeehawww. this is of course assuming the head isnt destroyed.
Oh by the way, if they are a stage 2 or stage 3 cam, your are going to need to upgrade the valvetrain or you may have coil bind/valve float and destroy a few more valves.
Need you some nice valvesprings and some nice retainers. tack on another few hundred bucks.
Roughly, how long did he say it would take ? ( just curious as each shop is different )

He already told me that those cams might not work for me. He wants to see them 1st tho. And I don't know how long it might take.. the process of removing and reinstalling should be a day each and the time between at a machine shop and waiting for parts.. i unno

Better check the cam specs.
