Leakdown test - HOW DO I ROTATE THE CRANKSHAFT TO TDC
Im sitting here all ready to perform a leakdown test, and I can not locate exactly how to manually rotate the crankshaft to top dead center.
Thanks for your quick response

On the crank theres a 19mm bolt. You turn that bolt counterclockwise to rotate to TDC.
On the crank next to the timing belt cover is 3 lines then one white line. On your timing belt cover youll see a little line sticking out, match up that white line to the timing cover line and you at TDC for cylinder 1.

Use a socket (I do not recall the exact size) and a large ratchet or breaker bar to rotate the crank via the crank pulley.
Beat me to it.

I assumed there was a bolt to rotate, however i do not know where that bolt is. If you can post a picture i would much easier be able to understand.
And which cylinder is 1...the far left or the far right if i am facing my car from the front.

Crank your steering wheel all the way to the left. Behind the front edge of the wheel is a star shaped cutout in the fender lining. You can put your socket extension through there, and the bolt is on the other side.

The crank pulley has three notches on it that drive your altenator, air condition, and power steering, so there are three belts attached to it, unless you don't have PS or AC. When you open your hood it is on the right hand side below your driver side mount.
I have located the pulleys, and i located the 6 point star on the drivers side wheel, it hasnt been cut out so ill have to push it out. So when i rotate it ccw 180 degrees, the camgears will rotate only 90 degrees, and when the up symbol is up on the cam gears that would me cylinder 1 is at tdc, correct?
again which is 1, far left or far right when looking in engine bay

Crank pulley bolt supposed to be in the pic. But Ihope you get the idea. Size 19mm socket

Cylinder #1 is far right when you facing on the engine, close to the timing belt. I hope you know where your timing belt is

Just to mention another way to check for tdc, remove your spark plugs, drop a long screwdriver, turn the crank, & determine where the screwdriver reaches its peak height.
success!. I thought i was screwed at first.
I managed to find a 19mm socket finally, then the gay piece fell off when i stuck it through the hole and dropped in some mysterious location. So i had to take off the stupid lining and get it.
The crank rotates. I currently have the valve cover off and both up symbols are facing directly up, so i assume cylinder 1 is at tdc and ready for testing. correct? i really do not want to stick anything into the chamber. earlier i accidentally dropped a piece of **** washer into the spark plug hole with the spark plug in and almost had a fit cuz i could not get it out for about an hour.
so cylinder 1 in ready yes, closed to the timing belt

dont go by the arrows pointing up, there are two notches on the inner sides of the camshafts that need to line up.
by the way, you should be turning the crackshaft counter clockwise.

LOL, you have to take the plugs out or you will have a hard time turning the crank, on the back of your can it will say... 'Up" if im not mistaken...then thats TDC. if that dosnt work put a screw driver in your #1 cyl all the way to the left and make sure its all the way up by turning your crank, also make sure the 4 valves are closed. then repeat for the other 3 cyl
