Bad grounding for Horn
I've heard many people have issues with their horns in 6th gen accords, suposedly caused by a bad ground. Could this be considered a malfunction of safety equipment, fixable by the dealer at no charge?
never heard of a 6th gen horn problem myself but hell just ground it to the body right by the horn & be done w/ it. That's not something I'd want to spend time at the dealership for myself, all the hassles w/ appointments etc. when it could be fixed in 5 minutes in my driveway.
I currently work at a non-Honda dealership, so this is definately NOT a definitive answer, but here is my experience. Most likely the answer is NO unless:
1- it actually malfuntions under the original warranty, or
2- there is a recall, or
3- you are REALLY good friends with the department manager
I'd call your nearest dealership about any issues first.

99 accord? yep, see if your horn is intermittant while turning the steering wheel. If this is the case the grease in the top steering column bearing needs to be flushed out and replaced with a conductive grease. I chased this problem around a couple years ago at a dealership.
I think you're pushing the envelope just a little there. I doubt Honda would look upon it as a safety issue as serious as a bad Ball Joint.
While you've got the car in there for the Tank, why not ask if they can hide the repair amongst the repair costs (NOT)!

i had the same issue just 5 weeks ago an a 99 odessey.........try something,, do not put the key in the ignition switch and see if horn works all the time,,, if it does,, put the key on and see if it cuts out.turn sttering wheel side to side . if it cuts out you are loosing ground on the steering column .. in the Odessey the column gets its ground through ignition switch , the way i fixed it, i just smacked the ignition switch inward a bit closer to the column .. Also i have seen a few cars have a bad cable reel..

So does this conductive grease provide the metal to metal connection for ground that people describe with this issue?

my 98 accord ex horn has been working intermittently as well. I noticed it will beep when the sterring wheel is turned. I saw your post on repacking the main steering wheel bearing with dielectric grease. Other than installing a new horn/switch, is this the only solution?
