Default The Flowmaster Exhaust for the EF is HORRIBLE

I got extremely curious, soo dangerously curious that I actually bought Flowmaster's Rear Exhaust section for my 89 Hatch Si. Not only did it not fit in very well at all, but it sounded terrible. Probably the worst sound I have ever heard in my life. Luckily I am able to send the thing back, and get my money back also. I cannot believe how horrible this thing sounds.

Please reguard this warning!

thanks for the insight now i know never to buy one of those, sounded like a damn bumble bee huh. Is your engine stock? That can play a part in the exhaust tone.

Huh... I have a Flowmaster 70 series muffler and custom bent axle-back piping. I think it sounds great, but then again it's not THEIR axle-back, just their muffler.

Theres a big difference between the 70 series muffler and this garbage in this thread,,that's flowmaster garbage muffler(standard 40 series)....Even on v8 cars its sounds so high pitched almost makes v8's sound like v6's when being revved..

Go here and look at the differences in designs on the different mufflers..

lol the worst part about that exhaust is this:

i went to KVR performance/local speed shop and ordered a Flowmaster CATBACK exhaust for a 92 Si hatch.....when i get it, i open the box, look at the parts on my floor and think "unless theres 6 feet of pipe in there, it wont fit.

turns out, its this exact exhaust and not only is it only an axle-back but its for a "88-92 civic Si" lol theres no way a 88-91 civic axleback will ever fit into a 92 si....worst 300 bux i`ve ever spent...good thing they waived the 10% restocking fee

You gotta pay-2-play as they always say.
You can tell from the pipes in the pic that this just does not flow to well and the sound does not suprise me either. back in 96 I actually got a flowmaster (can't remember series though) to replace my busted muffler on my '88 CRX Si, I actually thought it sounded pretty good back then but that was before alot of Quality parts were readily available as well, I eventually swapped it out for an original GReddy SP system (best investment ever made on that car)

I put a flowmaster on a crx before and it sounded nice and deep. Did you have a resonator at all ?

I have that same exhaust and I really dont find it that bad. It has a deep tone that doesnt get raspy at all even over 6k. The only thing I dont like about it is the tip, its freaking huge and also after driving for about 2 hours the drown of the exhaust hurts my head a bit.

I'm installing a smsp testpipe with 2 1/4 inch back to a crx axle back on my EF. I have excessive motor work so this will give me a little bit of both worlds.

Who wants a chambered muffler anyway. Chambers are for stock mufflers.

40 series flowmaster sounds great on my bro's b16. He has a magnaflow resonator too though.

ILL POST PICTURES TOMMOROW AND IF I GET A CHANCE, AND ALSO A SOUND CLIP.

Power is noticeable for me. 2.14 piping. And The muffler itself was 70 dollars, I got a discount. Regular price is 99.99, I hear magnaflow is cheaper and the turbo series sounded great, I would have gone with magnaflow but our pepboyz only had flowmaster and cherry bomb.Ghey.

I hear many people complain about flowmaster, But if you have a resonator and custom piping with a delta 40, it sounds awesome. I love the sleeper sound.
