Whats up man. Thats what I am plannin on doing with the gsr, except I am using a gsr head. Ive researched this and Most people take theres to 7500k and its there daily driver. They say they wouldnt push 7800K on stock internals.

yea your supposed to use the b18c1 head, might be able to use b16 head I dont know, do not go past 7800 on stock internals, I myself would not go past 7500.

you don't HAVE to use the b18c1 head, no where does it say that. The b16 head just yields lower compression. If you're going to do ls/vtec i seriosuly suggest getting higher compression pistons to get the most out of it. Since you're using a b20 block you can't just throw in any other b-series pistons. But, if you do get higher comp pistons, you'll get much higher gains.

Also, revving to 8k is not "safe" for the stock non-vtec bottom end. It's not balanced to the same tolerances as the blocks that DO rev that high. It doesn't have a block girdle. It doesn't have strong rod bolts, or rods. AND the pressure on the cylinder walls from the rod/stroke ratio of the non-vtec bottom end will be very high at 8000 rpms, and over time could crack them.

It's my personal opinion that unless you get the block sleeved, to stay at the stock redline of 7000 rpms.

I am getting arp rod bolts and head studs. I plan on reving to 7500K, Shouldnt have a problem and it is going to be my daily driver. I also plan on getting my rods shot-peened and possibly some other small things.
You should be fine to take it to 7500K. Depending on how good your block is.
