ok i did everything to wire in the vss on a ef8 in my ls, i wired the sencer wire to the red/yel on the clip that goes to the back of the speedo, and the power to the blk/yel on the same clip,and the grd to just a grd,but it doesnt work the only thing i didnt do is wire it to the ecu,but will that make it not work,cuz i thought it just got rid of the check eng light and to tell to ecu that it has one, please help i hate not know how fast i am goin,i am goin of the rpms right now.

Yes you do have to wire it to the ECU - all your other steps are correct.

No, it doesn't have to be wired to the ecu for the speedo to work. You might want to recheck your wiring and connections.
