Default axle trouble!

so after doing a b16a / y1 lsd tranny swap in a 90 civic si. i realized the front wheels felt loose when i would wobble them by hand.. so i took it to my mechanic, to have the ball joints replaced, i have never replaced them so i figure well thats the problem. he said they are perfectly fine, but the axles are not the right ones for the car. he said they are the correct ones for the engine, but not the car? is that possible? i got the motor from hmotors.. just need some advice..

What axles are you using?

You said you noticed the wheel wobbling by hand -which direction -meaning where you hands at 12 & 6 o'clock or 3 & 9 ?

it was more of 5 o'clock one handed type of thing.. the wheel moved about .5 - 1in. the axles are the one's hmotors sent, im not exactly sure how to tell the name / what car they are from..

has anyone ever heard of this?

You probably do need new axles.

The JDM axles is what I am assuming that they supplied you. They are more than likely just pulled out of a group of axles.
It is a common problem with trying to use the axles that come with swaps. They should really at best be used for cores.
Axles for Y1 would be different from the J1, YS1, and S1 which are by percent change more likely what you were supplied when purchased your engine.

The best set up you could do is a custom axle set up for the Y1 shaft. This is going to cost you some money though (I'll PM you price) or you can go the route of pulling some axles that will just "work" for your local parts store.

put on some gloves or grab a rag, get under the car, and shake the axle shaft side to side. This way you know its the axles and not looseness in your suspension.
Do you notice some shaking/vibration only when accelerating? Definately your axles.
Im running what I believe are 90 Integra axles on my 90 hatch with Si hubs and YS1 tranny with no problems.
