well as far as hot rod is concerned....they're using xtrac and g-force trannies and the the gms are running the hydramtics so i wouldnt see the harm of using a bseries trans on a h motor....
would the h2b plate work on an h motor with an xtrac?

From what they ( NHRA ) told me is that the trans must match the block for the sportman class - turbo or almotor. So H22 must have H22 trans im sure you could get away with Accord or H23 trans because it still bolts directly to the H block.
If you are in the Pro class you can take a 150 lbs ( i think ) penalty for what ever trans you want to run - xtrac etc etc. Or in bisi's case the sohc on the f block -
This is why you wont see many SFWD/NHRA cobalts - they have a GM trans but it is out of a van and NHRA said NO NO NO

Be Happy the H Motors can't run the B Trans...because then the Cobalts could run a Grans Prix Trans and wreck everyone badly.

My vote was for the rule to allow it
- Racin is racin
I talked with NHRA about it all winter and they would not even think about it, they stuck to their guns.

Well in the Cobalt you would heat the other guys cry and see the adaptor plate -
In the hondas you wouldnt know the difference between say b16/b18 or h22/h23/F but in the case of this topic you would see the H motor then adaptor then B trans

yep, it's pretty obvious with the plate and different starter location.

He did say that they are looking to revise the rules without pissing the GM guys off, but it may not happen until mid-season.

does that mean someone with a GSR and type-r tranny wouldnt qualify? what exactly does nhra's rulebook say. transmission that are oem to a block is the case, then what about all the people who have been runnin motors with different trannies all these years. its a very contradictory rule on nhra's part if u ask me.

The rules means B Series Motor = B Series Tranny. GSR and Type-R are Both
B Series Motors = OK!
FYI. I'm not posting to debate the rule, I was just answering this gent question.

In my thought process, if they allow the H2B trans swap, they would have to allow the cobalts to run the 4t-65 trans, which I don't see happening.
